2-7 Addition & Subtraction Facts to Nine

Numbers that are added together are called addends.

In 4 + 3, 4 and 3 are addends.

In 5 + 4 = 9, 5 and 4 are addends and 9 is the sum.

5 + 4 = 9 is an equation.

An equal sign (=) means "is the same as."

 

Complete the following.  Use the word addends or sum.
