Lesson List

Remember the multiplication words factors and product?   The numbers that you multiply are the factors and the answer is the product.

You will learn about THREE RULES FOR MULTIPLICATION.  The rules are about the factors and product.

RULE 1

No matter what order you multiply the factors in, the product is always the same.

2 X 3 = 6 and 3 X 2 = 6

RULE 2

When one of the factors is 1, the product is always the other factor.

1 X 7 = 7

3 X 1 = 3

RULE 3

When one of the factors is 0, the product is always 0.

0 X 7 = 0

1 X 0 = 0

Practice the THREE  RULES FOR MULTIPLICATION.

Fill in the boxes.

Rule 1
4 X 5 = 20 X 4 = 20
3 X 6 = 18 X 3 = 18
6 X 5 = 30 X 6 = 30
2 X 3 = 6 X 2 = 6

Rule 2
4 X 1 = 8 X 1 =
1 X 3 = 7 X 1 =
2 X 1 = 1 X 5 =
6 X 1 = 1 X 1 =

Rule 3
