You find the area of a figure by counting the square units.  Sometimes you will need to count half units.  Look at the example below.

Example A
The area of the triangle above is equal to
 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 + 1 + 1 = 4
The triangle has an area of 4 square units.

 

Find the area of the figures below.

Area = sq. units Area = sq. units
   
Area = sq. units Area = sq. units
   
Area = sq. units Area = sq. units
   
Area = sq. units Area = sq. units
