Dear Mr. Henshaw

Possible Answers

1. Leigh Botts writes letters to Mr. Henshaw.  Did you notice he makes spelling mistakes?  What else do you know about Leigh as a writer?
Possible Answer:  Another thing I know about Leigh is that he doesn't like to write.  His mom makes him answer the questions Mr. Henshaw sends him.  He complains the whole while he is doing it.  He also says it is hard to do.  This is why I know he doesn't like to write.

2.  What does the message after Leigh's name on pg. 8 tell you about Leigh?
Possible Answer:  The message tells me that Leigh has a sense of humor.  I think it's funny how he wrote this.

3.  Are there any similarities between you and Leigh Botts?  Explain.
Possible Answer:  No, there are no similarities.  I'm not medium at all.  I'm the tallest person in my class.  I'm also very good at writing and I really like to write.  I'm the best speller in the classroom too.  I also have a lot of friends and Leigh doesn't seem to have any.  At least he doesn't mention that he has any friends.

4.  Why do you think Leigh describes himself as medium?  How would you describe yourself?
Possible Answer:  I think he means he's pretty medium at everything.  He's not tall or short.  He's not really smart, but he's not stupid either.  He's just medium!

5. Do you think you'd like Leigh as a friend?  Why or why not?
Possible Answer:  I'm not sure yet.  I don't know a lot about him yet.  I think it would be hard to be his friend because he just moved.
