All About Alaska

Alaska is the largest U.S. State.  It is very large, one-fifth the size of all the 49 states put together.  It became a state in 1959.  The capital of Alaska is Juneau.  The largest city is Anchorage.  It is the business and transportation center of Alaska.

The temperature is warmer than you might think!  In some places it is as warm as 80 degrees.  But it is also very cold. Sometimes it is 19 degrees below zero in a city named Point Barrow.
