3-20 Spelling Tip

Consonant cluster.
Two consonant sounds that begin a word are called a consonant cluster.
The consonant cluster sound is in smooth, speech, and stamp.

 

Words Definitions
1. speech 1.  the act of speaking; manner of speaking:  His speech was slow.  2. a public talk:  We heard the speech on the radio.
2. scrap a small piece; a small part left over:  There were scraps of paper on the floor.
3. sweater a knit piece of clothing. 
4. slipper a light, soft shoe:  house slippers, dancing slippers.
5. scarf a piece of cloth worn on the head or around the neck and shoulders.
6. skid slip or slide to one side:  The truck skidded on the ice.
7. sneakers light canvas shoes with rubber soles.
8. score 1.  the points won in a game or test:  The score was 73 to 61.  2.  make points:  Our team scored first.
9. smile 1.  look happy by turning up the corners of your mouth:   The baby smiled.  2.  the act of curving up the corners of the mouth to show you are pleased:  He has a nice smile.
10. smoke 1. gases that rise in a cloud from anything that is hot or burning.  2.  give off smoke:  The fire smokes.  3.  draw into the mouth and blow out smoke.  Grandpa smokes a pipe.
