4-17 Spelling Tip

Double consonants.
Words with double consonants followed by -le are bubble, middle, and nibble.

 

Words Definitions
1. bubble a round drop of water that is full of air.
2. middle 1.  halfway between; in the center:  The middle house is ours.  2. the place halfway between:  The middle of the street.
3. nibble 1.  eat away with quick, small bites.  2.  bite gently or lightly.
4. peddle travel about with things to sell:  We peddled magazines from house to house.
5. syllable a unit of pronunciation.  Words are divided into syllables.  Word has one syllable.  Sentence has two syllables.  Paragraph has three syllables.
6. wobble to move clumsily from side to side:  The little boy wobbled as he learned to walk.
7. huddle 1.  a close-packed group.  2.  a brief gathering of football players away from the line of scrimmage to receive instructions for the next down.
8. baffled confusing or puzzling:  I was baffled by the math test.
9. smuggle to import or export something illegally.
10. terrible causing great fear.
