1. shovel 1. a tool used to lift and throw dirt or snow or other loose material.  2.  lift and throw with a shovel:  The young man shoveled snow from the driveway.
2. shatter to break at once into pieces:  The plate shattered when it hit the floor.
3. shingle a small, thin piece of building material used to cover a roof or the sides of a building: The men will put new shingles on our house.
4. shrimp a small sea creature with a long tail.  Shrimp is good to eat.
5. shin the front part of the leg below the knee:  I hurt my shin when I fell off my bike.
6. shallow having little depth:  The water was shallow near the shore.
7. shepherd one who tends sheep.
8. shred 1. to cut or tear into small pieces:  The paper was shredded.  2.  a small piece; a scrap:  She can share a shred of it with you.
9. shawl a square or long piece of cloth worn about the shoulders or head.  My grandma wears a shawl in the cold weather.
10. shrink 1.  back away from; move backward:  Our dog shrinks at the crash of thunder.  2.  get smaller:  Will the blanket shrink in hot water?  3.  make smaller:  Hot water shrinks wool.
