4-9 Spelling Tip

The j sound.
The j sound can be spelled with a j, ge, or dge.
The j sound is spelled j in jelly, Jell-O, jewelry.
The j sound is spelled ge in range and change.
The j sound is spelled dge in lodge and bridge.

 

Words Definitions
1. jelly a food made of fruit juice and sugar boiled together: Jelly spread on bread is good.
2. jingle 1.  a sound like little bells ringing.  2. make such a sound:  He jingled coins in his pocket.  3.  a verse that has a jingling sound.  She wrote a jingle.
3. badge an emblem awarded for an accomplishment.  The policeman wore a gold badge on his uniform.
4. jewelry things to wear, such as bracelets, necklaces, rings.
5. janitor a person who takes care of a building.
6. jewel 1.  a rare stone, such as a diamond.  2.  a piece of jewelry.
7. jogger a person who jogs.
8. badger an animal that digs holes in the ground to live in.
9. journey a trip.
10. jaguar a wild animal that looks like a leopard.
