6-1 Spelling Tip

Contractions
Contractions
are made up of two words with some of the letters being replaced by an apostrophe.  Contractions are used in speaking and writing as well as to reflect speech.  Speech becomes quicker when you use a contraction.   For example, we'll instead of we will.
I'll, he'd, we'll, let's, and they're are examples of contractions.

 

Words Definitions
1. aren't The contraction for are not.
2. he'll The contraction for he will.
3. she'd The contraction for she had.
4. you're The contraction for you are.
5. haven't The contraction for have not.
6. can't The contraction for can not.
7. they'll The contraction for they will.
8. shouldn't The contraction for should not.
9. we'll The contraction for we will.
10. that's The contraction for that is.
