Example:  Suppose you want to search about dogs.  The word DOG is very broad or general.  A search about DOGS will provide too many topics.  What about DOGS do you want to know?  Try to be very specific.

1.  Enter specific words.  DOG BREEDS, DOG SIZES, DOG LIFE, DOG HOUSES, DOG FOOD, DOG HAIR, WORK DOGS, DOG NAMES, etc.

2. Use nouns only.  Remember, a noun is a person, place, or thing.  Verbs are often ignored by search engines.

3. Use as many words as possible to do your search but try to keep it to six words or less.

4. Try synonyms when searching.  For MONKEY you might try CHIMPANZEE or PRIMATE.  Each of these words will provide different results from your search engine.  Try it and see what happens.

5. Word phrases are powerful.  The order of the words you choose will change the search results.  For example; United States President Obama - Obama President United States - United States Obama President - President Obama United States - United President Obama States, etc. will each produce different search results.

6. The use of the word AND between each word will give you different results than if you do not use the word AND.  For example; President AND Obama is different than President Obama.

7. The plural of a word will also change your search results.  For example; CHILD is different than CHILDREN.

8. If at first you don't succeed to find what you want, then TRY, TRY, AGAIN.

9. Searching the Internet is fun because you never know what you might find.

10. Don't give up!  Some of the best websites are two or more pages past the first page shown by the web browser.  Don't be afraid to click "Next" at the bottom.
